MacANTHONY, Joseph

I am deeply sorry for your loss and to learn of Joes passing so late on. I spent some time with Joe in April / May 2021 in the beacon hospital. I was lucky enough to be wheeled into a room next to Joe. Although at time I didnt feel lucky, Joe told me stories of his exploits in Canada and at home. He struck me as a man of truth, integrity and someone that could see I was struggling to stay positive often offering a kind word to reassure me.

McNAMARA, Prof. Seán

I have fond memories of Sean and collaborating with him 40 years ago(!) in Offshore research, back when I was lecturing at Queen's in Belfast. He was very generous with his time, an excellent teacher, a fine scholar and overall perfect gentleman. I am saddened to learn of his passing .My condolences to the family.

BURKE Sr Katherine

I missed Sister Catherine's death and have just found it now. She was really good with messed up children. Whatever judgements she had, she kept to herself. I disappeared out of the house, during breakfast, one school morning and my mother rang in to see if I'd done a runner. Catherine called me up to her office, gave me breakfast, tea and a cigarette. I was no older than 14 and the cigarette won me over, for a while, at least. She, along with Eugenia(RIP) and Evelyn, made a difference at a time when I met indifference on a daily basis. They didn't know what was going on and I never told them. I'm sorry that we never met again, afterwards.

FITZGERALD, JIM

I remember you from the seminars, firstly the one in the Bahamas, '99 - very insightful, practical and a lovely person to be around and every part of your work was professional. I'm sure you're in your Heavenly Paradise now, and enjoying the continuum. Well deserved.

CAGNEY, Denis

Very sad to read this notice today. While I have hardly seen Denis since we were in Trinity together in the 1970s I still remember fondly his highly intelligent and witty nature. A sad day for the extended Cagney family today.
