I missed Sister Catherine's death and have just found it now. She was really good with messed up children. Whatever judgements she had, she kept to herself. I disappeared out of the house, during breakfast, one school morning and my mother rang in to see if I'd done a runner. Catherine called me up to her office, gave me breakfast, tea and a cigarette. I was no older than 14 and the cigarette won me over, for a while, at least. She, along with Eugenia(RIP) and Evelyn, made a difference at a time when I met indifference on a daily basis. They didn't know what was going on and I never told them. I'm sorry that we never met again, afterwards.
