BARNIVILLE, Geraldine

To the Houlihan family & the Barnivilles, our thoughts are with everyone at this sad time. I’ve only met Geraldine three times; the first when the boys were babies, then we had the pleasure of hosting Geraldine at our home in Ontario, Canada while she was playing in a squash tournament, then in 2018 on my last visit to Ireland. She was the oldest cousin on the Cheasty side so it was natural that we looked up to her. Sending hugs to all the Irish cousins… Love, Jill

SEMPLE, Elizabeth

I knew Liz. I was a teacher in Kilbeggan and a student of mine, Roseleen Latimer, was a patient at the same time. I met Liz when I visited Roseleen. She was a lovely girl, so bubbly and full of fun. They were great friends, and it was so poignant to hear them laughing and discussing their hopes for the future, when I knew deep down that they probably didn't have a future. Roseleen died the following June, and even all these years later I still think of those two wonderful young ladies. I know they are now in a far better place and probably still best buddies. My heartfelt (if belated) condolences go out to you all.

McAULEY, Penelope

I was fortunate enough to attend Burton Hall in the 1950s, I was 10 years old. It was a magical place. There I met Penny, and her treasured horse Korbous. One day, she said take K round the fields, I was a bit older then. Trembling with fear and excitement, we managed a circuit in two, along with the beloved collie dog! The Colonel always called her 'Penel', being a Penny myself, I aspired for the same, but sadly not fulfilled. She was always so generous and kind, with the pipsqueaks who rode there back then. RIP.

de COURCY, John

Remembering JDC with great fondness. I was very sorry to hear of his passing. We shared so many happy times together—work trips to Spain, the Lake District, and beyond, feeding time at the zoo, and always plenty of laughter with John. I’ll also fondly remember the drives to look at land or houses, which inevitably would always mean an Ice cream along the way. Great memories . My sincere condolences to Dolores, RDC, and all his family and loved ones.
