I was fortunate enough to attend Burton Hall in the 1950s, I was 10 years old. It was a magical place. There I met Penny, and her treasured horse Korbous. One day, she said take K round the fields, I was a bit older then. Trembling with fear and excitement, we managed a circuit in two, along with the beloved collie dog! The Colonel always called her 'Penel', being a Penny myself, I aspired for the same, but sadly not fulfilled. She was always so generous and kind, with the pipsqueaks who rode there back then. RIP.
