DAVIDSON, Jill

When the boys were small and the 6am game of Monopoly became boring, they and Jill would stand on her bed and fling the money towards the ceiling to whoops of delight. For years, when I moved the bed to hoover, I’d find a note. She loved mischief.

So sad to hear this news about my dear friend Brenda. She and I worked together at the ESB back in the early1960s and we reconnected many times during her visits to the US over the years. Jill immediately made you feel relaxed and listened as if you were the only person she wanted to talk to. She was spirited, special and very much her own woman. Rest in peace Jill. There are not many like you here.

My Aunt Jackie is fondly remembered, when I was a child, she hauled us all 11 cousins, to the beach on Summer holidays. We all had sandy tomato sandwiches and Squash in yoghurt cups. But what fun! The kids all ran on the dunes and played with her boxer Rudy. We looked for sticklebacks while the aunts chattered away. She was so fun and vivacious. A mum to us all really. She didn't mind us kiddies coming back all sticky from lollipops and wet with salt water. She rolled with it. She had a grand sense of humor and warmth. She had a beautiful garden in back with gooseberries and rhubarb and made the best pies. At night, she had us say our prayers for all. May God hold my lovely aunt in the palm of his hand. My heart goes out to her children, my cousins and their families. Peace.
