FRENCH, Nicholas

I have been a neighbour of Nicholas for over 20 years, and shared a love of wildlife and cats. He always had so much compassion for the creatures that took refuge in his garden, feeding them regularly. Many of my cats were born in Nicholas' garden, one whom I adopted after he'd been hit by a car, and Nicholas had taken to the vet. He cared for them but also respected their wild nature. He hated injustice and unfairness, which is why he was so involved in local crime prevention; he believed in looking out for each other. With Nicholas there was always a smile and a chat. And style! Always a gentleman. He will be deeply missed on this road and around Ranelagh.

WINDER, Jeanne

My apologies for only today learning of the death of Jeanne. I was at the annual reception for the final year students in Biochemistry & Immunology in TCD yesterday and we 'oldies' were talking about Frank and Jeanne. One such was Gareth Jones who would have climbed with Frank. Gareth did not know that Frank had died. Jeanne was a colourful woman and a great hostess at the many parties we attended at Highfield. I offer you my sincere condolences on the death of Jeanne.
