O'BRIEN - Cyril (Smithfield, Dublin 7 and formerly of Burmah-Castrol) passed away unexpectedly at his home on 31st December 2025. Predeceased by his parents Janet and John O’Brien. He will be sadly missed by his cousins Brenda and Eugene, nieces Emma and Kim, extended family, a wide circle of close friends and his wonderful neighbours.

Reposing at Bourke’s Funeral Home, 71 Queen Street from 5pm to 7pm tomorrow evening (Friday 9th January). Cyril’s Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday morning (10th January) at 11am in the Church of St. Michan’s, Halston Street followed by a cremation service at Glasnevin Crematorium Chapel.

HYLAND - Tom (TJ Hyland) (St. Mary's Road and formerly of Killaloonty, Tuam, Co. Galway) 6th January, 2026. Dearly beloved husband of the late Rhona, and much-loved father of Kate, Mark, Fiona, and Lisa. Sadly missed by his partner Eileen, daughters and son, sons-in-law Kieran and David, daughter-in-law Agnieszka, his adored grandchildren Alayna, Emma, Louise, Anna, Henry, and Sophia, brothers John and Christy, sisters Kitty and Mary, relatives, colleagues, and many friends. Tom was much loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Tom will lie in Repose at the O'Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, H91V1K8 on Thursday, 8th January, 2026 from 5.30 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. There will be no Removal to the Church this evening. Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Tom on Friday, 9th January on arrival at St. Joseph's Parish Church, Presentation Road at 11 a.m. Following Mass he will be laid to rest with Rhona in Rahoon cemetery. Mass will be live streamed. Family flowers. Memorial Donations if desired to COPD.

LEA - January 5, 2026, Geraldine (Ger), peacefully, after a long illness courageously borne, in the excellent care of The Marlay Nursing Home. Deeply regretted by her brother Brian, sister-in-law Nora, nieces Suzanne and Geraldine, nephew Philip, her grand nieces, relatives and friends. Rest in peace. Predeceased by her beloved husband Michael, parents Peter and Maureen Finan, and brother Cairbre (Naas). Deeply regretted by her beloved daughter Olivia, brothers Dermot (Sligo), Declan (Kill), Turlough (Toronto), Irial (South Carolina, USA), sisters Gráinne (Toronto), Caolainn (The Yukon), sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace. Olivia would like to thank her mums carers and the staff of Mayo University Hospital and Friars Lodge Nursing Home for their kindness shown to Fionnuala. BUCKLEY HAYES - Mary - January 4, 2026 (Baldoyle and formerly of Howth and Foxrock), passed peacefully at St Francis Hospice, Raheny. Much loved mother of Anna, Cathy, Neil and Sarah. Grandmother to Matthew, Sarah, Evie and Harry. She will be missed by all including her brother Denis, sisters Margaret and Pauline, sons-in-law Larry, Eoin and Mario, daughter-in-law Lys, Charlotte Hayes, and by her many nieces and nephews, and all those who knew her kind and gentle nature.Mary will be reposing at Staffords Funeral Home, Golf Links Road, Portmarnock on Thursday Evening 8th January from 5pm to 7 pm. A short memorial service for Mary will be held on Friday 9th January in Staffords Funeral Home, Portmarnock at 12pm followed by burial in St Fintan’s Cemetery ( 1954 Section )

SMITH - Declan, (Glenageary), 2 January 2026, in the wonderfully compassionate care of the staff of Blackrock Hospice, Rev Godfrey Declan Burfield Smith. Son of the late Canon Thomas Smith and Elizabeth Burfield, brother of the late Patrick, he is deeply loved and so much missed by Heather, his wife of sixty years, their beloved sons Ciaran and Ronan, his very dear grandchildren Chloe, Tabitha, Levi, and Aoife and Emer, brother Peter and his wife Mary, daughter-in-law Abigail, the wider family and friends in Ireland and abroad. Former rector of Donoughmore, Donard and Dunlavin, Declan ministered in Zambia, Ireland and Spain, and travelled on behalf of CMSI in Ireland, Africa, India and Nepal. The private cremation service has taken place and Declan’s ashes will be interred in Castlegregory, Co Kerry, his boyhood home. All are welcome at a musical celebration and Thanksgiving for Declan’s life in Kill o’ The Grange Church, Co. Dublin on Saturday, 10 January at 3 pm.
