O'CONNELL - The death has occurred of Ursula (née Daly), of Ballyweelin, Rosses Point, Co. Sligo formerly Kilmihil, Co. Clare. Died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Pre-deceased by her dear husband Jim, siblings Peter, Joe and Declan, Gertrude, Dorothy, Mary and her twin sister Rose. Much loved mother of Judy, Bobby, Emily, Evelyn, Petria and Susan. She will be sadly missed by her son and daughters, brother Ben, sons-in-law Aidan, Paul and David, adored grandchildren Robert, Maeve, Niall, Eva, James, Peter, Emma, Laura, Ben, Amelia, Daisy, George and Alice, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. May her kind and gentle soul rest in peace. Reposing at Foley and McGowan’s Funeral Home, Market Yard, Sligo (F91YR62) on Monday 26th January 2026 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. Funeral will arrive to St. Columba’s Church, Rosses Point (F91X638) on Tuesday 27th January 2026 at 12:00pm for Mass of The Resurrection followed by burial in Rosses Point Cemetery.

PURDY - John (Dalkey, Co. Dublin) — January 23, 2026. It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely and sudden death of my beloved husband and best friend, John. Loving father to Conor and Kian. John’s loss will be deeply felt by his wide circle of family, friends, and colleagues, built over his 63 years. John is predeceased by his parents Millie and Jack, his sister Jackie and brother Stephen. He will be very sadly missed by his wife Audrey, sons, their partners Sophia and Steffi, his brother Colin, sisters Jean and Barbara, brothers-in-law Michael, Pat and Fergal, sisters-in-law Debbie, Susannah, Tanya and Maura, nieces, nephews, and extended family. John will be reposing tomorrow Tuesday (January 27), from 5pm to 7pm in Fanagans Carnegies Funeral Home, Monkstown (A94 XK28). Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday (January 28) at 10am in St. Patrick’s Church, Monkstown, followed by burial in Kilternan Cemetery Park, Ballycorus Road. For those who cannot attend, the Mass can be viewed online using the church webcam. Sympathy messages for John’s family may be left in the “Condolence” on RIP. Family flowers only, please.

FARRELL - Maura (Stillorgan and formerly of Moyglass and Loughrea, Co. Galway, and Irish Shell and part-time model) 23rd January 2026 (peacefully) after an illness borne with great courage and dignity in St. Vincent’s University Hospital. Much adored and loving mother of Richard. She will be deeply missed and remembered by her heartbroken son Richard, daughter-in-law Abby, her cherished granddaughter Robyn, brothers Sean and Michael, extended family, her many friends and neighbours. Reposing in Fanagans Funeral Home, Dundrum on Tuesday afternoon from 3pm-5pm. Removal on Wednesday morning to the Church of St. Laurence O’Toole, Kilmacud arriving for Funeral Mass at 10am followed by burial in Kilternan Cemetery Park. A huge thank you to her wonderful carers, and the nurses and doctors in St. Vincent's University Hospital, who all looked after Maura so well over the past few years.

RICE - Eleanor (née Rochford) Ashford, Co. Wicklow, formerly Dublin and Tubbercurry Co. Sligo. 24th January 2026. Passed away peacefully at home, after a long illness. Beloved wife of Don and loving mother of Aoife. Eleanor will forever be missed and loved by her husband Don, daughter Aoife, her sister Mary, brother Odran, sisters-in-law Mary and Catherine, brother-in-law Fintan and her nieces, nephews and friends. Cremation Service tomorrow Tuesday at 12.00 noon in McCrea's Cremation Chapel, Dublin Road, Wicklow Town (A67E003) for all those who wish to attend. CONWAY - Jim (Clontarf and formerly of Brussels and Artane) – 24th January 2026, (peacefully), surrounded by his loving family, in the tender care of the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Francis Hospice, Raheny. Beloved husband of Geraldine and adored father of Éamonn, Evelyn and Orla. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, son, daughters, treasured grandson Leo, daughter-in-law Aisling, niece Anne (daughter of pre-deceased sister Rufina), brother-in-law Dave, the extended Conway and Quinlivan families and his friends. Reposing at the Fanagan-Kirwan Funeral Home, Fairview Strand this Monday evening (26th January) from 5 o’clock to 7 o’clock. Jim’s Funeral Mass will take place in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Clontarf on Tuesday morning (27th January) at 10 o’clock. A private committal will take place thereafter. Jim’s Funeral Mass may be made be viewed on the St. John the Baptist Parish Webcam. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to St. Francis Hospice.

FORDE - Colum Patrick (Passage Road, Waterford) (First Anniversary - January 26, 2025). Helen, Anne and David, their partners and children, express their sincere thanks for the kindness and support of family, neighbours and friends at home and abroad. GRAHAM - (née Penston), — First Anniversary. The family of the late Marie Graham, née Penston, Shankill and formerly RTÉ, lovingly remember her on her First Anniversary. Her family wish to express their sincere and heartfelt thanks to all who supported us throughout Marie’s illness and since her passing. We are deeply grateful to all who sent cards and beautiful flowers, offered condolences, prayers, Mass cards and messages of sympathy, and to those who visited, phoned and provided practical support. Thank you to friends and neighbours who brought food and called to the family home. Our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff of Blackrock Hospice, the staff of Shankill Primary Care Centre, McCartan’s Pharmacy, the IMNDA, and all of Marie’s carers and medical team for their exceptional care and kindness. We also wish to thank Colliers in Bray for so beautifully supporting us in arranging her funeral. A very special word of thanks to Marie’s brothers and sisters who kept vigil with us by her bedside during her final days, weeks and months. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our deep appreciation.
