SWEETMAN - John BArch FRIAI, ex Royal Dublin GC (Churchtown, Dublin), 14th February 2026, peacefully, in the care of St Jamess Hospital. Beloved husband of Mary and much-loved father of Sandra, Jane, and the late Anton. Very sadly missed by his loving wife, daughters, son-in-law Stephen, grandchildren Zoë, Adam, Kyle, Felix and Bobby, sister Helen (USA), relatives, neighbours and many friends. Reposing at Fanagans Funeral Home Dundrum on Thursday afternoon (19th February) from 5pm to 7pm. Removal on Friday morning (20th February) to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Churchtown arriving for Funeral Mass at 10am followed by burial in Bohernabreena Cemetery.

BEIRNE - Thomas (Tom), (Newtown, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon and formerly of Grange, Strokestown) Peacefully, in the exceptional care of the staff of Roscommon Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Cherished husband of Mary and beloved father of Conor, Tommy, Avril and Morgan, and adored Pappa of Katie, Elliott, Sofia, Noah and Odin. Tom will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, his sisters Emily and Jude, son-in-law Sean, daughter-in-law Emma, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Tom is predeceased by his parents Michael and Margaret, his brother Joey and his sister Mary. Reposing at McHugh's Funeral Home, Strokestown, F42 RK72, on Wednesday (February 18) from 6pm until 8pm. Oakes (née Murphy) - Joan Kilcarn Cottage, Johnstown, Navan, Meath. After a long illness, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, and the kind and attentive staff at Carechoice Nursing Home, Trim, Co Meath, retired physiotherapist and former President of the Irish Society of Orthopaedic Medicine (ISOM). Predeceased by her devoted husband Malachy (d. 2020), grandson Michael Malachy (McGrath) (d. 2021), parents Micheál and Mary Murphy of Bridge Street, New Ross, Co Wexford, brother John, and sister Mary (O’Shea). Joan will be deeply missed by her beloved children Jennifer, Robert and Edward, sisters Máiréad, Anne, and Bríd, brother Michael, grandchildren Anna, Tom and Emily, son-in-law Wesley, daughter-in-law Caroline, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, colleagues and many friends. Reposing at her residence on Wednesday, 18th February from 2pm to 7pm. Arriving at the Church of the Nativity Johnstown on Thursday morning for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in Old Kilcarn Cemetery.

CANNY - (Woodbine Road and Dalkey) Peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Blackrock Hospice on St Valentines Day 2026. Barry, after a prolonged illness borne with great strength, dignity and bravery. Son of the late Patrick and Carmel Canny. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Dee and their daughters Gina, Emily and Julie. Barry will be greatly missed by Dee and the girls, his sisters Deirdre, Ailish and Fiona, his brother Raymond, brothers- in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews in particular Gareth and Sarah, Gina’s partner Ian, his team at Peploes and a very wide circle of friends. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Reposing on Wednesday 18th February between 5.00pm and 8.00pm at the Fanagan Carnegie Funeral Home in Monkstown, A94 XK28. SWAYNE - (née Coffey), Maeve (Deansgrange, Co. Dublin) February 13, 2026. Peacefully, in the care of the staff at Fern Dean Nursing Home, Blackrock. Beloved wife of the late George, devoted mother of Brian, Anne Marie and the late Paul and sister to the late Colette. She will be sadly missed by her children, son-in-law Andy, daughter-in-law Freda, grandchildren Sinéad, Aisling, Finley and Georgie, sister Fionnuala, niece, nephew, extended family and friends. Funeral arriving at the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Foxrock on (Thursday 19 February) at 9.40am for Reception Prayers and Words of Appreciation. Funeral Mass at 10am followed by burial in Deans Grange Cemetery.
