A good, good man

I attended Villiers in from 1979 to 1984. While I have not seen Mr Ruddock since then, I have many good memories of him. Of course, we just knew him as "Jack" our indomitable headmaster. I was sad to hear of his passing.

His love of music will be what I remember most. When he moved his Concert Grand into school he let me practice on it - a real honour. His passion for bringing all good things musical to Limerick meant we were exposed to so much really good music. I think I can date my love of classical music (especially live) to that time. It is a great gift to introduce someone to something they love for their entire life.

He was a lovely man who touched many, many lives. If they don't already have well organised concerts "up there" - they will now.

Deepest Sympathy from Villier's Alumnae

Dear Ruddock Family:

I was one of the American students at Villiers 1980-1982 and remember Mr. Ruddock as an integral part of Villers and my two memorable years in Ireland. I particularly recall Mr. and Mrs. Ruddock's absolute joy at the birth of Rosalind.

Condolences to you all. He will not be forgotten by his many students.

Cristina Petit Hamill (Villiers 1982)

Limerick music assoc
I met John through the LMA. He did the area SUCH a service and i think opened the door to the very rich concert era we now enjoy. He was a very nice man in my experience. Sincere sympathy.
