Umbria-Dublin

So sad to hear this. Only recently I was telling her she had become an honorary Italian for her visits to Umbria, and we thought we might meet here or in Ireland.

Conor Fitzgerald

The best literary editor

Caroline is the most desperate loss. She was always generously ready to confer her own zest and skills and positiveness on whoever she dealt with so that they felt better and more worthwhile. She was the best, and the nicest, editor I have ever dealt with. Her literary pages set a new high-water mark that it will be hard for anyone else to reach. Bernard O'Donoghue
