So sad to read years later......We knew each other as late teenager's in Fitzwilliam Sq. and Lad Lane area. What a privilege and joy Caroline was to know . God called your name so softly, That only you could hear; And no one heard the footsteps, Of angels drawing near. The golden gates stood open, God saw you needed rest; His garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. RIP Caroline.....John

Generous to all Artists

My sincere sympathies to James and family. And also to Elizabeth. Caroline was so generous not just to writers but to all artists. We will miss her great energy and the 'loose leaves' scattering in the wind.

Though lovers be lost love shall not;

And death shall have no dominion.

Michael Holohan

Thank you

Returning to Dublin after Christmas with family I read in disbelief of Caroline's passing. My thoughts are with her family, who from the columns in the paper sound as gutsy, and inspiring as Caroline appeared to be. I did not know Caroline personally but dealt with her once for a piece she commissioned, which she edited with utter professionalism. Her love of the word came through, as did her integrity, scrutiny for accuracy and detail. From that small interaction I realised I was dealing with a real editor from the old tradition who loved literature and the world of ideas. It was my luck to have had a little sprinkling of her magic.

In peace, and thought.

A generous and kind woman

My deepest sympathy to Caroline's family. I met her once and in that brief meeting she showed such generosity of spirit, praising an article I had written. She didn't have to come over to me but such was her warm way. I always loved her book pages too.

- Ciara Dwyer

So supportive to novice editor

I want to recall how supportive Caroline was to me in my time as Editor at Attic Press. She gave so generously of her time and lent her support to new women writers. In particular she gave great personal support to this woman and worked hard to sign off on her edited book of beautiful short stories by Irish women writers - Virgins and Hyacinths. My thoughts are with her family at this sad time. R.I.P.

Sincere Condolences

Caroline was most generous to me when I met her to talk about her mother's writing. She gave two hours of her valuable time and I can remember lots of laughter as well as advice. I have been heartened by her continued interest in my research and I feel privileged to have met her. My thoughts are with Caroline's family at this time.

Theresa Wray
