Goodnight Garret

Garret

I met you twice and the first time you said "Call me Garret" The second time I met you at your house and you had signed my petition about a house being demolished in Sandymount by one of the property developers. even before the Celtic Tiger you had the forsight to see what these developers were doing to our much loved Dublin, but you did it very gracefully and remember you lost the petiton and I helped you find it under that huge pile of letters in your office at your house.I felt sorry leaving you that day, I wished I could have stayed and help you tidy the desk, but you said there will be more letters to answe rtomorrow when An Post arrivies. The Irish people already miss you and I will always remember that you signed that petition which is now at Dublin City Council and yes Garret, they didn't take any notice of it and the house is now gone forever.
