In Memory of Professor Ó hÓgáin

Am only after hearing about this on RTE Radio 1 in an advert for 'Ceili House'. Completely unaware Professor Ó hÓgáin had passed away. For anyone involved in folklore studies he was quite the inspiration. I had the pleasure of meeting him when I was a rather green MA student and was presenting at my first academic conference in Dalarna, Sweden. He was kind and encouraging and asked questions in such a way as to make me feel that I was surer of my subject than I might have been. He will be missed.

Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.

Thérèse McIntyre, PhD Candidate, Centre for Irish Studies, NUI Galway
