+MACDAID - Bishop Liam S. (Monaghan & Donegal)

Christopher MacDaid, brother of the late Bishop Liam S. MacDaid, Bishop Emeritus of Clogher, expresses his sincere thanks to all who sympathised and offered support on the occasion of the death of Bishop Liam. In particular, he expresses his sincere gratitude to Bishop Larry Duffy, Bishop of Clogher; Archbishop Eamon Martin of Armagh; the Papal Nuncio to Ireland, Archbishop Luis Mariano Montemayor; Monsignor Shane Mc Caughey, Monsignor Joseph Mc Guinness, Canon Paddy Mc Ginn, Fr Leo Creelman and Bishop Emeritus Joseph Duffy, and all the other priests of the diocese and those from further afield, as well as the assembly of bishops, who assisted in making the liturgy for the reception of the body, the lying-in-state and the Funeral Mass such a fitting and memorable occasion. Thanks also to Archbishop John McDowell, Church of Ireland Archbishop of Armagh and Dean Kenny Hall of Enniskillen for their attendance at the Funeral Mass.

Many thanks also to the two Cathedral sacristans at St Macartan’s Cathedral, Monaghan, the staff of the Clogher Diocesan Office, Deirdre Macklin and the St Macartan’s Cathedral choir, the Knights of Columbanus and the staff and pupils from various schools and clubs who assisted in various parts of the ceremonies.

Thank you to all those who travelled from many parts of the country to pay their respects, especially from the parishes of Fivemiletown, Tyholland, Bundoran and Monaghan where Bishop Liam had ministered for many years.

For the smooth administration of the repatriation of the remains, Christopher is grateful to Anne Tuffy and her extended family and also to the undertaker Patrick Mc Elvaney and his daughter Eileen whose calm and efficient attention to detail was first-class.

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for all your intentions.

Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated for Bishop Liam on Saturday 16th September in St Macartan’s Cathedral, Monaghan, at 6.00pm.
