For Maureen

Dear All,

I was very sorry to read of Maureen's death in the IT. I got to know Maureen when she came to UCD to study Archaeology (and Classics?) as a mature student. She was an inspiration to her fellow students and those teaching her with her zest for learning and life and willingness to set herself challenges and rise to them.

I smiled when I say her home described as the four corners of the world. It was a great pleasure for me and others to get postcards from the most unexpected places with images that Maureen thought we would be interested in.

I know she will be a great loss to all her family and friends and I would like to express sympathies and condolences from myself and all my colleagues in the UCD School of Archaeology.

May Maureen rest in peace and be fondly remembered

Gabriel Cooney

Emeritus Professor of Celtic Archaeology

My sympathy to the MacAllister family. I knew Maureen well in Trinity 29 years ago. She was a dear friend. We shared great times together meeting every morning, early at the computers! May she rest in deep peace. Siobhan Maher, Kilkenny

Rest in peace to Maureen who joined a group of us who met for the Tuesday lectures in the National Art Gallery when she wasn't travelling on some expedition somewhere in Europe or further afield. Eileen Humphreys
