BYRNE - Don. On the occasion of Don's eightieth birthday (June 21), Helene, Rachel, Joanne, Gavin, Laura and Clare would like to thank all those who showed us great kindness following Don's death on October 19. We were greatly comforted by the extraordinary number of condolence messages, cards and flowers we received and the memories of Don shared on rip.ie. Don wished to remain at home during his illness and this was made possible with the enormous help we received from the Rehab carers, the community nurses from Ballinteer Health Centre, the Palliative Care Team from Our Lady's Hospice who all looked after Don with such dignity and compassion. Don had a long and difficult illness and we would like to thank all those in the medical profession who took such good care of him, Dr Thirion in the Beacon Hospital, Prof McDermott, Christine and the Oncology team in Tallaght Hospital, his GP Paul McCormick and his staff, and the pharmacists in Boots Nutgrove Sarah and Niall. We would like to thank his friends in Railway Union and the Evergreen Tennis Club, his former colleagues and students at DIT Bolton Street, the neighbours and friends who stood outside his home and the chapel for his final journey, and to those who made donations in his name. Thank you to Linda and his grandson Adam for singing some of his favourite songs at his service. As we celebrate Don's birthday and Father's day this year without him, we will remember a loving husband, dad and grandad, who will be forever missed.
