HORKAN, Gerry (Patrick Gerald) B.E., C.Eng, MIEI, B.Comm, Goatstown, Dublin, late of UCD & President of UCD AFC. 21st November 2024, in his 90th year at St Vincent’s University Hospital. Deeply missed by his loving family, his beloved wife of 55 years Mary, much loved father of sons Gerry, John and David, and daughter Pauline; adored grandfather of Eva, David, John and Sarah. Also deeply regretted by his son-in-law Peter, brother David, sister-in-law Sheila and brother-in-law Tom, extended family, friends and neighbours. Predeceased by his sister Mary. Reposing at Fanagans Funeral Home, Dundrum on this evening (Monday) from 5pm to 7pm. Removal on tomorrow (Tuesday) to the Church of The Holy Cross, Dundrum arriving for Funeral Mass at 10.30am followed by burial in Deansgrange Cemetery. Family flowers only please. The Horkan family would like to thank the staff of Our Lady’s Ward and St John’s Ward at St. Vincent’s University Hospital for their kind care of Gerry. “A Great Life Well Lived”

Mary, I was so sorry to hear from Ann Ormonde of Gerry’s death. He was always so nice to meet. One came away feeling jollier. Jonathan Philbin Bowman once wrote about people he called Daymakers and I think Gerry belonged in that category. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Mary McCarthy
