TAYLOR, Ronald (Ron) H (late of Cunningburn, Newtownards) - August 25, 2019, (peacefully), in the care of the Ulster Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. Loved and loving husband of Janet and stepfather to Andrew, daughter-in-law Jill and grandchildren. Sadly missed by all his brother George and sisters Joan and Gertrude (Gertie) and extended family, friends and neighbours in Cunningburn. Predeceased by his brothers Jackie and John and sisters Mary and Noreen. Born in Carrickmacross Ron was a superb athlete winning national championships in discus and shot on 11 occasions and competed at the World Student Games in Paris in 1957. In 1961 he was the first Irishman to putt the shot over 50ft on Irish soil and held the Irish record for a number of years. Funeral at St. Marks, Newtownards on Saturday, August 31, at 11.00am.
