Jonathan was one of my lecturers at QUB when I was doing my history degree. He was a gentleman and the most passionate person on his subject. His knowledge and enthusiasm certainly passed on to his students. He will be sorely missed.

My regrets to all his family, whether I knew him or not, at this time. I was in High School, Dublin with Jonathan ERIC Bardon, called JEB at times, in 1950's. I hope this man enjoyed a good happy life; Alex Wright, Dublin
