An honest genuine friend.

I first met Robert at a lecture arranged by the old Children's Reading Association when he sat beside me and we fell into congenial conversation about poetry and children's books. When my first book was published Robert looked for a copy and gave it a very encouraging review. From then on he was at my side with every book I wrote. A man with a mission and the endurance to see it through to the end, it is impossible to imagine the blossoming of children's literature in Ireland without him. Thanks Robert. You are sadly missed.

Cormac Mac Raois.

Robert Dunbar

So sad to hear of the death of this great man. Heard him on the radio many years ago talking about children's books. Loved the Northern accent and 'listened out' for him afterwards. May he rest in peace.
