FENNESSY - John - Vienna, Austria (formerly Glasnevin, Dublin)

Ex UNRWA (Beirut and Amman), ICTP (Trieste), OSCE (Skopje and Kosovo) - May 21, 2023 R.I.P.

Jacinta (nee McCormack, Ardakillan, Strokestown), Marie-Claire, John and Sr. Bernadette D.C. would like to express our sincere appreciation for all the kindness and support we received following the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother John.

To our extended families, neighbours and friends, your kindness and support will never be forgotten.

To those who attended the Mass in the Church of SS Eithne and Fidelma, Tulsk, and the interment in Kilcooley Cemetery; those who travelled long distances, sent Mass cards, messages, texts and assurances of their love and prayers, our heartfelt gratitude. To Fr. John Gannon who celebrated the Mass and officiated at the interment, and for his spiritual support and touching homily, to the Altar servers, and to Eimear and Andrew Reynolds for the beautiful music and singing, we are most grateful. To Pat McHugh, Undertaker, for his organisation, care and guidance, our sincere gratitude.

To Fr. Dominic O’Toole CSSR for organising and celebrating the Mass of Thanksgiving for John’s life in the DonauCity Kirche in Vienna on 21 June 2023, to David Corcoran who organised and provided the beautiful music and singing, to the Vienna Toastmasters Club for their moving and heartwarming tributes to John and particularly to Aine Neuhaus for her generous and impeccable organisation, our heartfelt gratitude. We are especially grateful to the friends and former colleagues who travelled from abroad to be with us, and to Eoin O’Leary, Ambassador of Ireland to Austria, his wife Anne Delaney, and Hugh McGowan, Second Secretary at the Irish Embassy in Vienna for their presence and support. We greatly appreciate and cherish the presence, support and prayers of each one of you. We continue to be comforted by your love and prayers during our bereavement. Please accept this as a token of our gratitude. Mass has been offered for your intentions.

John is remembered for his kindness, his gentleness, and his calm and peaceful presence. Our memories of John continue to inspire us.
