DOWNES, Joseph (Clonskeagh, Dublin) - 5th February 2023, peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at The Holy Family Residence, Roebuck Road; beloved husband of Daire and loving father of Kate, Leonie, Joseph, Vincent and Sarah. He will be sadly missed by his sister Sheila (pre-deceased by his brother Desmond and sisters Dorothy and Barbara), sons-in-law Stephen and Robert, daughter-in-law Nuala, grandchildren Jeanne, Peter, Andrew and Mark, Adam and Alex, Tom and James, sisters-in-law Margaret (Downes) and Leonie (Gaffney), extended family and friends. Rest in peace. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday (9th February) at 11.00am in Church of the Sacred Heart, Donnybrook, followed by burial in Glasnevin Cemetery. Mr. Joseph employed me as an apprentice mechanic at the bakery in Finglas in 1968 till I got married and moved to Australia in 1974. He was a wonderful employer and a man who I believe cared about his employees. Rest in peace Mr. Joseph, and thank you.
