Bob Welch

I had the privilege to be one of the students on the BA (Hons) in English course at the University of Leeds at a time when Dr. Welch (as he was then) had the dubious honour of lecturing first year students on Renaissance poetry and drama. Bob Welch's erudition, humour and friendliness ensured that he quickly became a favourite lecturer and his lectures a joy to attend. I graduated in 1979 and have not seen or spoken to Bob Welch since then, but he is remembered with great affection. Condolences to his family on their great loss.

Tom Long
