HEFFERNAN Kevin (Howth Road, Dublin 5) - Today, on the First Anniversary of Kevin's passing on January 25, 2013, Kevin's wife Mary, daughter Orla, son-in-law Paul, grandchildren Kevin and Aisling, sisters Pauline and Claire and extended family wish to thank all those who sympathised with them on their sad loss. To all his friends who were so supportive during his illness and who rallied around to offer comfort in his final days, we appreciate your kindness. To our relatives, neighbours and all who sent letters, floral tributes, Mass Cards or called personally in the days after Kevin's passing, we thank you. To his former colleagues at E.S.B, The Labour Court and Bord na gCon and GAA friends from all corners of Ireland and abroad who travelled to be with us, we thank you for your loyalty. To Professor Des Carney and the team at the oncology unit and the doctors and staff of the Mater Private Hospital, we offer thanks for your fantastic care and those extra months of borrowed precious time. To his friend Dr Sean Lynch, thank you for your care and support to Kevin. To the wonderful team at St. Francis Hospice for their professionalism and comfort for Kevin during the final weeks of his illness, we thank you most sincerely. To Msgr John Fitzpatrick PP, who concelebrated Mass with Fr Liam Murtagh PP and Fr Tom Noone PP, and the parish committee of St Vincent de Paul, thank you for a ceremony that was memorable: Kevin was back in his childhood parish. Special thanks to Antoinette Heery and Eileen Dwyer for their beautiful musical renditions. Thank you to the past presidents and captains of Clontarf Golf Club and the past and present players from St Vincent's and Dublin teams who helped carry Kevin on his final journey. A special thanks to the boys and girls of the juvenile section of St. Vincent's Hurling and Football Club, Scoil Mhuire, St Vincent de Paul Schools and St Fintan's N.S. Sutton who formed the guards of honour. To Uachtarán na hEireann agus an Taoiseach, who were represented by their ADCs and to Government Ministers, Lord Mayor Cllr Naoise O Múiri, Uachtarán agus Ard Stiúrthóir CLG and past and present public representatives, we thank you for your attendance. We thank Frank Jennings Funeral Home for your professionalism and offer particular thanks to an Garda Síochána for facilitating the smooth running of the arrangements. To RTE and the broadcast and print media, thank you for the dignified and professional job in reporting on Kevin's funeral service and in your reflections on his sporting life. We trust that we have remembered all who helped alleviate the sadness of our loss. The Holy Sacrifice of The Mass has been offered as a token of our appreciation.Míle buíochas as ucht ár gcroí.
