McCARTHY John (Johnnie), Marino, Dublin 3, died November 10, 2013 - On this, the First Anniversary, we, his son Joe and daughter Helen would like to express our sincere thanks to all who sympathised with us on the death of our beloved Dad. We also thank those who attended the Removal Service and Funeral Mass and those who sent Mass cards, sympathy letters and messages of condolence. Our thanks to the staff of the TLC Nursing Home in Santry, who looked after Dad in his latter years and to his former colleagues in CIE. Special thanks to Fr. Cyril Mangan for his reflective and inspiring words at the Funeral Mass and to Cantairí Avondale Choir for the consolation of their beautiful singing. All your kind words, prayers, Mass cards and letters have been a great comfort to us. We hope this acknowledgement will be accepted as a token of our appreciation and gratitude.

...a message from the USA

We, the American relatives of our beloved John, join with our Irish relatives in grieving the loss of our glorious and shining Johnnie, who was Ireland to us, for how else would we know about our ancestors, history, customs and what sings in our blood.

How fortunate that when we visited John in 1998, we renewed these bonds, my father Timothy F. McCarthy, my sister Maureen McCarthy Nardone, and I, Carol McCarthy, and that we learned from a true scholar and Irish patriot what is means to be Irish.

Johnnie is not gone forever, he has, as usual, gone ahead to show us the way home...

Carol A McCarthy, Boston

Citizen of Ireland/US
