I wish I'd have met you, Fr. By God's grace maybe someday I will. Please pray for us left behind. May God hold you, alongside Bl. Columba for all eternity. With love, Darren, England.

Fr. Mark Tierney

I spoke to Fr. Tierney on the telephone a number of years after he spoke on the radio with Donncaidh O Dulaing about abbot Columba Marmion. I had been reading Bl. Columba Marmions 4 main books having as a young man read that that he had given a retreat to the Cistercian monks at Mount St. Josephs Abbey in Roscrea in 1922. Fr. Mark subsequently gave me a copy of his book on Dom Marmion (shorter version) written for his beatification. He was surprised that I was reading BL. Marmions works and asked how this came about. I gave him the above reason as well as finding Bl. Marmion very congenial and a priest of extraordinary sanctity. My cconnection with Mount St. Josephs was that I knew Fr. Thomas O Leary who was a very good friend to me in my youth.

RIP Fr. Mark

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Fr. Mark. I will never forget the lovely words he said on the evening of my mother's (Peggy Quirke) funeral in 2003 Fr. Mark and my mother were good friends. Fr. Mark will be missed not only from Glenstal but by his friends in Boher and Murroe.
