Memories came flooding back

Very saddened at learning of Fr Sean's death. Despite it being 30 years since I was at school, the memories came flooding back when I saw him laid out...the countless hours spent teaching us basketball, taking us on game trips and all the time treating us like adults and with his own, unique, mischievous sense of humour. Almost invariably good-humoured, his ability to lighten a grey morning with his two morning calls - when rousing us boarders - "rise and shine" and "shake a leg" will always remain with me. My regret is not having made more of an effort in the intervening time to have re-established contact. It feels like yesterday.

Eibhir Mulqueen

An exceptional man

very saddened to hear of the death of this true gentleman, priest and teacher.was a boarder in St Mary's during the 1980 s and i had nothing but affection and happiness when he was on duty.He was a great charactor, always interested in the student, taught me how to play basketball and always showed genuine concern for people, was a very humble, honourable, and spiritual man. I was delighted when he said he would officiate at my wedding in 2008.We had a most memorable day.Rest in peace Sean and Thank You.

Mentor and more...

As an ex-boarding pupil at St Mary's, an avid basketball player while there and regular class goer of Fr Sean's Science block classroom I spent many hours in his presence. He would always somehow bring any conversation back to a fly-fishing analogy :-) His passion for his hometown, his favorite pastime and the people he met were made evident by his ever peaceful nature. He was one of the best influences in my life and the lives of my immediate family still in Galway and countless others. Rest in Peace Sean...you were and are very loved.
