SHANKS, Joan (née Ryan) (Dublin and Wexford) Saturday, November 26, 2016 - On the eve of the First Anniversary of Joan's passing, Ray, Gillian and Bobby wish to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with us on our tremendous loss - our neighbours, close friends and extended families, a number of whom travelled great distances to be with us in support. Our special thanks to Canon Gillian Wharton, Dean Forrest, Dean Mooney and the Rev. Pierpoint for their gentleness and concern, all of whom officiated at Joan's funeral in a manner that made this sad occasion more bearable for all of us. Our special gratitude is extended to the doctors and nurses of the Oncology and Palliative Units in the Beacon Hospital for their professionalism and genuine caring of Joan during the extended period of her illness. The tenderness and warmth extended to us by everyone will never be forgotten and will remain forever in our hearts as a reminder of the love felt by many for such a loving friend, a Mum and a life partner. We hope this acknowledgement will be accepted as a token of our gratitude and appreciation for all the kindness and expressions of sympathy shown to us during this extremely difficult period.
