McCARTAN Desmond March 22, 2017 (London) On the First Anniversary of Des's death, we his beloved family extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended the funeral, sent Mass cards and letters of condolence. We thank the medical staff of the I.C.U. at St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington for their care for Des in the days preceding his death. To former colleagues from the Press and from the Cabinet Office Westminster, we appreciated your presence at Ealing Abbey and your kind words of condolence. We also thank his former journalist friends from the Belfast Telegraph and from The Irish Times who wrote such kind tributes in his memory. Finally our gratitude to Fr. Ambrose McCambridge, Ealing Abbey, for the uplifting and dignified celebration of Des's Requiem Mass.
