<p>PHELAN, Capt. John (Jack) (Retired) (Foxrock, Dublin 18 and formerly and proudly of Doneraile, Co. Cork) - February 17, 2021, peacefully, in his 94th year, in the wonderful care of Belmont House Nursing Home after a full life, well lived, loving husband of 59 years of Elizabeth (Betty), deeply loved by his children John, James, Carol Ann, Niall, and Paul; their partners Lynda, Ali, Mike, Claudia and Kristie; and his grandchildren Gracie, Rosie, Rebecca, Hannah, William, Joshua and Daniel. He will be sadly missed by his extended family especially our Lysaght, Rea and Walsh cousins in Cork. His generous loving nature and larger than life spirit will be greatly missed by his adoring family, relatives, friends and neighbours as well as his past colleagues in the Defence Forces, RNLI, and TV &amp; Film industry - with whom he shared so many fond and treasured memories. Due to government restrictions, a family Funeral Mass will take place for Jack this (Monday) morning at 10am. Those would like to attend the mass are warmly invited to join online at churchservices.tv/foxrock. Messages of condolence may be forwarded through the notice on RIP.ie. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack can be made to the RNLI. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dílis</p>

Deepest sympathy to the Phelan family. Jacko was a great mentor and influence on young officers arriving in 2nd Infantry Battalion in Cathal Brugha Barracks in the 1960’s. Happy memories. May he Rest in Peace. Pat O’Sullivan Maj Gen (Retd.)
