DRUM, – Mientje (née Luykx) (Sutton and Wexford), August 23rd 2025, (peacefully) at Greystones Nursing Home; beloved wife of Paul, much loved mother of Georgina, Jessica and the late Matthew, adored grandmother of Sophie, Noah and Abbie. Loved and remembered always by her family, son-in-law Enda, daughter-in-law Lara, brothers Toon and Huibrecht, sisters Rita, Maria and Elizabeth, her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, the extended family and a wide circle of friends. Reposing at Fanagans Funeral Home, Willbrook Road, Rathfarnham (D14 W029) on Wednesday (August 27) from 3pm to 4pm – you are welcome to join us. A Celebration of her life will take place on Thursday (August 28) at 2.30 pm in Mount Jerome Victorian Chapel, Harold’s Cross. Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, to The Alzheimer Society of Ireland.

Sorry for your trouble, Paul. Many happy memories of your family from growing up on the Burrow and in Belvedere. I remember Mientje very well, smashing lady. I’ll let Ian know, I think you were good pals. And thanks so much again for teaching me how to ride a bike on the front lawn on the Burrow back in ‘64. Old friends are best at times like this.
