MANNION Gerard (Cathedral Avenue, Washington D.C., U.S.A. and formerly of Northampton, England). (September 25, 1970 - September 21, 2019); beloved son of the late Michael (formerly of Four-Mile-House, Roscommon) and the late Theresa (formerly of Blackrock, Dublin). Gerard was a Theologian and Ecumenist who held the Joseph & Winifred Amaturo Chair in Catholic Studies at Georgetown University where he was a Senior Research Fellow of the Berkley Centre for Religion, Peace and World Affairs. At the time of his sudden and untimely death he was also the president of the International Network of Societies for Catholic Theology, this was alongside many other work commitments. He will be sadly missed by his sisters Maria and Julie, brother-in-law Derek, his nieces and nephews, his loved ones and extended family, in the U.K., Ireland, U.S and Australia, also by his colleagues, students and many friends in the U.K., Ireland, U.S and worldwide. Reposing at Smyth's Funeral Home, Roscommon, Ireland on Monday evening (October 14) from 5.00 o'c until 6.30 o'c followed by removal to St. Brigid's Church, Four-Mile-House. Mass of the Resurrection on Tuesday (October 15) at 11.00 o'clock Burial afterwards in Ballinderry Cemetery.May Perpetual Light

So sad to hear that Gerard has passed away so suddenly. God rest his sole and deepest sympathy to all his family, friends and all who knew him. What a sad loss. Jackie Neenan.
