GEARTY (née Hannigan), (Vienna Lodge, Battery Road, Longford) June 7, 2020, Brenda, (peacefully) at home. Wife of the late Padraic Gearty. Predeceased by her brother Monsignor Tim Hannigan (New Zealand). Brenda will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters Deirdre (McGowan), Naoimh (O'Dwyer) and Liadhan (Hassett), her brothers Tom and Denis, her grandchildren Cliona, Siobhan, Denis, Ailbhe, Philip, Ruth, Maeve, Padraic and Tom, her great-grandchildren J.J. and Páidí, sons-in-law John, Pat and Mark, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Brenda's Funeral Mass will take place this (Tuesday) morning in St. Mel's Cathedral, Longford at 11.00am, however following government guidelines regarding public gatherings, this will take place privately. The Mass will be streamed live, please go to www.longfordparish.com. On the weekend of Brenda's First Anniversary, we, her daughters, Deirdre, Naoimh and Liadhan, her brothers, Tom and Denis, together with her extended family wish to acknowledge with most sincere thanks all those who sympathised with us on her passing. Your prayers and support, kind words and expressions of sympathy were greatly appreciated. Our gratitude to the many people who participated in the guards of honour, joined in the live streaming of her funeral mass and gathered to join Brenda on her final journey and say goodbye.We would like to thank in a special way Fr. Turlough Baxter for his visits to Mum, his prayers at our home, officiating at the funeral mass and burial. Our thanks also to Fr. James McKiernan and Fr. Ciaran McGovern who concelebrated as well as to Derek Mahedy for the beautiful music. We remember too with deep appreciation the wonderful care Mum received from Dr. Padraig McGarry, Public Health Nurses and the Palliative Care Team. Our thanks to Martin Glennon of Glennon’s Funeral Directors for his professionalism and dignity in attending to all the necessary arrangements.
