COONEY - Jackie (Sandom),(Dalkey, Co. Dublin) -On August 16, 2020, the loving family of Jackie said goodbye to her in Blackrock Hospice, as she bravely left this world. Jackie showed great dignity and courage, inspiring those around her in those last days as she did every day in life. Jackie is deeply missed by her adoring husband Maurice, loving children Margaret & Keith, beloved sister June, son-in-law David, daughter-in-law Kris, cherished grandson Luke, brothers-in-law Paschal and Dermot (recently deceased), sisters-in-law Angela and Marian, niece Angela, nephews Eddie and Dermot, grandnieces Aoife and Siobhán, and lifelong friends including Theresa, James, Oonagh, Barry and Eamonn. While not many could attend the funeral due to pandemic restrictions, we were very moved by those who did attend, stood in the grounds, and even lined the streets as we walked to the church. We are deeply grateful to you all. The mass was beautifully celebrated in Church of the Assumption, Dalkey and James Beatley’s music throughout the ceremony and at the grave in Glasnevin, was a tremendous tribute to Jackie and her love for the arts.

We would like to thank everyone who sent messages, cards, and flowers. We read every word. We extend our sincere gratitude to our dear lifelong friend and family doctor, Dr. Ciarán Bent. A particular word of thanks to Prof. Michael Keane and staff in St Vincent’s Private Hospital who attended Jackie during her long and difficult illness, and to Prof. Cunningham and the wonderful staff in the Blackrock Hospice who cared for Jackie in her final weeks.

Jackie was a partner, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a formidable and talented painter, and her work hangs in many collections nationally and internationally. Jackie was much more than the sum of her parts. Her absence leaves a great void that will never be filled.

‘All is changed.

Changed utterly.’
