We are sure that, just like us, his many friends and former colleagues miss his infectious optimism and generosity. Our thanks to all who participated in Joe's farewell, including the messages that came from near and far. To all who donated to the Mater Foundation, thank you. In particular, the family would like to thank Prof. Des Carney and the wonderful staff of the Mater Private Hospital, Dublin, especially those on St. Elizabeth's Ward. Please forgive any omissions in acknowledging letters of sympathy as we did not have addresses for all who wrote. The holy sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for the intentions of all.
