For the boy I will never forget

Gravel crunches with a heavy heart,

the tummy worms begin to squirm.

Watching eyes bore

that are so like yours,

the palpable loss, so eloquent.

Stifled coughing, sharp inhales

that bring a sting to the eyes of those that heard

and knew

a familiar laugh

disjointed limbs all gangly and boyish,

a soul so old it had seen the times of aphrodite.

One tear falls,

then another.

Shoulders crumble as the bursts of orange tell you this is real.

Memories flicker,

eyes that were the most alive I've ever seen,

I smile

and next to your name I print the words

Love Infinity.

x

Alexi, to me, was one of the kindest, smartest (in every sense of the word) and funniest people I ever had the pleasure of knowing. He made an impact on me. His insightful, curious nature is something that will forever be with me as I remember the many fun times we shared at Waterford Youth arts as teenagers. I hope his family have all the love and support they need right now. I will always, every now and then, remember him... and smile. A true gentleman.
