KELLY Peter Lanherne, Battery Road, Longford and late of 22 Main Street, Longford died January 2, 2019. Maura, Emily, Peter Jnr and Joseph, together with the Kelly family, would like to thank everyone most sincerely for their kind expressions of sympathy on the death of dear Peter. Thank you to those who travelled long distances and from overseas and those who attended his Requiem Mass and burial. Thank you to An Garda Síochána who escorted Peter's remains and to the stewards at the house and Cathedral. A special word of thanks to Fr Brendan O'Sullivan and his fellow priests who concelebrated Peter's Funeral Mass. Thanks also to Josephine (Soloist), Bridie (Organist) and the Longford Voices United Gospel Choir, and to Gerry (Sacristan) and Ray (Gravedigger). Thank you to John and Andrew of Kelly's Funeral Directors for their professionalism and care. Thanks also to Peter's Fianna Fáil colleagues, neighbours and friends who provided the guard of honour from our home to St. Mel's Cathedral. The presence of the aide-de-camp to President Michael D. Higgins was also very much appreciated. A special word of thanks to Dr Kevin Flanagan (Longford), Dr David Fennelly, Professor Des Winter and all the great staff at St Vincent's Private Hospital for their wonderful care. Thank you to our great neighbours, relatives and friends. A special word of thanks to Uachtarán Fianna Fáil Deputy Micheál Martin for the eulogy at the graveside. As it is impossible to thank everybody individually, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of our gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for all your intentions. Peter's First Anniversary Mass will take place on Sunday January 19 at 11 o'clock in St. Joseph's Hospital Chapel, Dublin Road. Longford.
