<p>DOWNES, (Sutton, Dublin) on 22nd February, 2021, in the loving care of all the staff in St. Mary’s Ward, Beaumont Hospital. Mark H. (M.A. Hort.) dearly beloved husband (for 60 years) of Mary (Watson); dear brother of Gerard (Nairobi) and the late Oula (Newfoundland). Much loved uncle to all his nephews, nieces and his many good friends and neighbours. Rest in Peace. A private family funeral will take place, due to Government advice regarding public gatherings on Thursday (25th February) at 11 o’clock in St. Fintan's Church, Sutton. Those who would have liked to attend the funeral, but cannot, due to current restrictions, may send a personal message to Kirwans Funeral Directors, 21/23 Fairview Strand, Dublin 3, or info@kirwans.ie. Family flowers only, please.</p>

<p>Loving Memories</p> <p>We are saddened by the news of the passing of Mark and fondly remember when we traveled to Ireland from Canada and visited with you both in 2008. I am honored that you used my portrait taken of him. As I was reminiscing looking through my photos of that trip I always liked this one just outside your home.</p> <p>We will always hold in our hearts the joyfulness of that time. My mom and dad could not have chosen a better person to be my Godfather as he was a remarkably warm and loving man and the world was a better place with him in it. Oceans apart, I only wish that I could have spent more days hearing his voice and laughter. Rest in peace.</p>
