McGRATH, Dr. Bríd (Rathmines, Dublin/Connemara) August 13, 2025, peacefully in the exceptional care of Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross. Surrounded by her loving family, husband Simon Devilly, daughter Sibéal Devilly, son Oisín Devilly and his partner Noelia Rodríguez. Fondly remembered by sisters Deirdre and Siobhán, brother in-law Paul, extended family James, Róisín, Noreen, James-Peter, Henry, Angela and Patrick Casey and wide circle of loving and supportive friends, historians, academics and other dear colleagues reflecting her many interests. She will repose at her home in Rathmines this evening (Friday, August 15) from 5.00p.m. to 8.00p.m. Funeral Service tomorrow morning (Saturday, August 16) at 10.00a.m. in The Church of the Holy Trinity, Church Avenue, Rathmines, followed by cremation in Mount Jerome at 11.30a.m. Family flowers only, donations welcome to Our Lady’s Hospice or the Bishops’ Appeal. I knew Brid as a student and she always remembered and acknowledged me.Much later and very recently I benefitted from her teaching and admired her commitment on History Schools M.Phil.A true educator and a most genuine person,who fought illness in stoic-like fashion.I will remember her..may smiling Brid rest in peace
