Legendary Character

A time to reflect at this sad news. How badly our over regulated world needs a few characters like Brendan Quirke. A great lover of life, rugby, Epsom, the Law, El vinos and Birte in an ever fluctuating order. A privilege to have worked with him. A few years with Brendan Quirke leaves you with a lifetimes worth of anecdotes.

An astute lawyer and fact gatherer combined with masterly eloquence in court utterly dedicated to getting the best result for his clients. Then off the field a great entertainer and host.

One of my first encounters was at Horseferry road Magistrates court when I was summoned to help out Brendan as Duty Solicitor. The courts were at a standstill as every Defendant had asked to be represented by Mr Quirke. Why this clamour for Mr Quirke said the Stipendary Magistrate? Well Sir ,said the old lag in the box, its scratched on the toilet doors at Brixton " Quirke is Good" and so he was - RIP
