Ó MÉALÓID Pádraig, born in Camus Íochtair, Connemara, Co. Galway, educated in Baile Bhúirne, Co. Cork, and St. Pat's, Drumcondra, married in Waterford City, and lived in Glenageary and Killiney, Co. Dublin, (peacefully), aged 85 - November 21, 2016, in Ashbury Nursing Home, Blackrock, Co. Dublin, who provided the greatest and tenderest of care for him in the last years of his life. Pádraig was a consummate and exemplary broadcasting professional. Along with Nuacht, he worked on Ceamara na Cruinne, Telefís Scoile, Buntús Cainte and Anois is Arís. On RTÉ Radio One, he presented the long standing series Preab San Aer, and Ceiliúradh Ceoil, while Fios Farraige, the popular marine based quiz show on Raidió na Gaeltachta was a particular favourite of his. He worked on a number of documentaries for TG4 and acted in their longstanding series Ros na Rún. In addition to all that, he also worked as a columnist, stage actor, translator, author and composer. His greatest heroes were Louis Armstrong, Mohammad Ali, and Galway footballer Seán Purcell, reflecting his great love for sport and jazz. Proudly loved and remembered by his children Seán, Pádraig, Caitríona, Máirtín, Micheál, and Gráinne, and by his brothers and sisters, grandchildren, family, friends and colleagues. He was a loving and dedicated family man to all his children and extended family. His wife, Clare, pre-deceased him in 2012 - he loved and cared for her throughout their life together. Pádraig is reposing at Patrick O'Donovan and Son Funeral Home, Sallynoggin (opp. Sallynoggin Church) this (Wednesday) evening from 5 o'c, with 7 o'c prayer service for family and friends - all welcome. Removal tomorrow (Thursday) morning to the Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Churchview Road, Killiney arriving at 9.50 am, for Requiem Mass at 10 o'c, with burial afterwards in Shanganagh Cemetery, Shankill, Co. Ó MÉALÓID, Pádraig (late of Camas Uachtair, Waterford and Killiney), November 21, 2016. On this day of our Dad's First Anniversary. Sadly missed by your loving children Seán, Pádraig, Caitríona, Máirtín, Micheál and Gráinne, as well as by your grandchildren, brothers and sisters, friends, colleagues, and extended family. And to our dear mother Clare, who died in 2012. We remember you both every day with great love and affection, and with gratitude for everything you did for us in your lives.
