LONG, Katie (Duhallow, Beabeg, Drogheda) (First Anniversary) - Katie left this world a year ago. She was a much loved and now greatly missed daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, cousin, friend and colleague. She led a full and interesting life, had a successful career, travelled extensively and her sporting achievements are recognised by "Katie Long Memorial Trophies" in tennis and softball. We are very grateful to Ashbrook Lawn Tennis Club and Homers Softball Club for presenting these. Katie coped with a challenging diagnosis without complaint. She continued working (Abbey Ireland were very supportive) and travelling during her treatment attending The US Tennis Championship twice and French Open once during her illness. We appreciate the support her very loyal friends gave her during her illness. We would like to thank the many specialist teams in the four institutions where Katie's illness was managed and the community palliative care team that looked after her when she decided active treatment was no longer appropriate. We appreciate the support of all those who attended her reposal at home, her funeral Mass and all who sent messages of condolence. We want to thank all those who made donations to her nominated charity. We are particularly grateful to Fr Brian O'Sullivan for saying Katie's funeral Mass, at her request, and doing it in a very personal and thoughtful manner. We want to thank Townley Funeral Directors for a very professional service, our neighbours who facilitated parking during her reposal. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we hope this acknowledgement will be accepted as a sincere thank you and a token of our heartfelt appreciation. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.
