ROY - Jack, Loughlinstown, Dublin 18. Today would have been Jack’s 64th birthday and, as a family, Rosemary, Suzi, Jill, Alex, his sister Barbara, and brother Peter would like to use this day to remember Jack and to acknowledge the love, kindness and support we have been shown since Jack died on December 12th last. Jack’s funeral on December 15th was extraordinary in many ways, not least because it could be held at all. The funeral Mass, concelebrated by Bishop Eamonn Walsh and Fr. Tom O Keeffe was very consoling for us. The professionalism of David Fanagan and his team was, as always, seamless, and so helpful. To those who joined us on that day, be it online, standing inside or outside the church, or all along the Dun Laoghaire waterfront, your presence was seen, felt, and appreciated very much. As were the many, many messages of condolence sent to us by letter, online, or by text. Each one of these was read and all of them were a great comfort. Since December we have been overwhelmed by the level of kindness shown to us, in so many ways, practically daily. This kindness can be something big or small. It might be just a wave or a smile or a phone call, but it all helps us to get through what is a very sad time in our lives. ‘Thank you’ seems a small thing to say, but when it is said with all possible sincerity, as it is here, we hope it will hold more meaning. To you all we say, “Thank You”. Finally, we wish to acknowledge Jack for being the exceptional person he was. A wonderful husband, Dad, (soon to be Grandad), brother, son, uncle, and friend. He is loved and missed every day and continues to be a source of strength for us all. Although he has left us too soon, we are so thankful to have had him in our lives for as long as we did, and we will keep him close, in our hearts, always.
