<p>BYRNE, Fr. Gerard (Gerry), (Gleann Óir, Clonard Hill, Balbriggan, Co. Dublin), Chaplain Blackrock Clinic, May 26, 2020 (peacefully), at his family home Balbriggan, after a bravely borne illness. Deeply regretted by his loving sisters Breda, Mary and Jane (twin), nephews Garrett and Niall, nieces Margarete and Mary Jane, grandnieces Sarah and Noelle, grandnephews Dillon and Tadhg, brother-in-law Michael, extended family, colleagues at Blackrock Clinic, Bishops and Priests of the Dublin Archdiocese, Eamonn, Ned and a wide circle of friends. Reposing privately. Due to current government guidelines a private removal will take place this (Thursday) evening to S.S. Peter and Paul's Church, Balbriggan, arriving at 6.15pm. Funeral Mass tomorrow (Friday) morning at 11am for immediate family only. Condolences may be left on Fr. Gerard's on www.irishtimes.com May he rest in eternal peace</p>

It was with great sadness I learnt of Fr Gerry’s passing, knew years ago as a young teen when I served Mass with him in St Philomena’s church, Palmerstown! Met him many times in the intervening years. He never forgot! Cáoilte Christie!

Very sorry to hear of the death of Fr.Gerry. A lovely gentle kind priest. I first met him before my heart surgery in 2003 and again in May 2017 when he blessed me and re-assured me I would be fine. I attended his mass on many occasions. RIP

Very sad to hear of the passing of this wonderful man and priest. He looked after our dear mother, who passed away in February, 2006. He was a great comforter both to herand to her family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal dílis.
