GIVEN, Fred (Bushypark, Galway, Emeritus Professor of Surgery, University Hospital, Galway) - 17 August 2024 (peacefully) at home. Beloved husband of Kathryn, loving father of John, Mark and Elaine, adored, granddad to Hugh, Jack, Rory, Mai, Robyn, George and Eve. Predeceased by his brother Pat and sister Monica. Sadly missed by his wife and children, daughter-in-law Fi, grandchildren, the extended family, friends and former colleagues. Reposing at the O’Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway (H91V1K8) on Tuesday 20 August, from 4.30 p.m. Removal at 6.30 p.m. to St. Joseph’s Church, Presentation Road (H91 YA30). Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Fred on Wednesday, 21 August at 11 a.m. Following Mass he will be laid to rest in Bushypark Cemetery, at the rear of St. James’ Church.
