BYRNE, Paul, (Thornhill, Strandhill Road, Sligo and former manager of Sligo & Roscommon County Councils), January 3, 2021, peacefully in the exceptional care of the nurses and staff of Portiuncula Nursing Home, Multyfarnham, Co. Westmeath. Predeceased by his beloved wife Nora and son Finbarr. Dearly loved father of Emer, Colman, Dermot and Aisling. Sadly missed by his loving family, son-in-law Paul, Colman’s fiancée Ruth Ann, cherished grandson Finbar and his mother Dorothy, in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and neighbours. Rest in Peace. Due to current Covid-19 restrictions Funeral Mass and burial are private to family and limited to 10 persons. Mass of the Resurrection at 12.00 noon on Thursday, January 7, 2021 in The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Sligo. Burial follows in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Scarden, Strandhill Road, Sligo. As we remember Dad on his First Anniversary, Emer, Colman, Dermot and Aisling wish to thank all those who sympathised with us at the time of our sad loss, for your letters, calls and messages of sympathy including RIP.ie, Mass cards, flowers and other expressions of condolences. We greatly appreciate all those, who due to Covid restrictions, could not attend Paul’s funeral service and burial but watched and supported us online. A special thank you to extended family, friends, neighbours, former colleagues and to Sligo County Council for their wonderful tributes to Paul, including the Guard of Honour outside the Cathedral. To Sligo Cathedral, Charles O’Connor (organist), Sean Feehily Funeral Directors and particularly, the StudioRove team, who enabled Paul’s sons, extended family, friends, neighbours and colleagues attend the service/burial.
Our deepest gratitude to the staff of Portiuncula Nursing Home, Multyfarnham for the exceptional care and kindness they gave Paul over the previous four years and the support they gave the family throughout. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for your intentions.
