Margaret Ó Dálaigh (née O’Callaghan) Sutton, Dublin – passed away peacefully at home on 17th May 2025 surrounded by her loving family, following an illness which she bore with her characteristic grace, humour, faith and positivity. Beloved wife of Tony, adored mother of Eimhear, Aoife, Cormac and Ruaidhrí, and cherished grandmother of Liam, Seán and Sadhbh. Margaret will be deeply missed by her loving sisters Mary, Alice and Frances, and their husbands, her sons- and daughters-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, godchildren and other extended family, neighbours, and her wide circle of loyal friends. Margaret was a talented actress and met her husband Tony whilst performing with the Strand Players Drama Group, where she met many of her lifelong friends. She had a passion for theatre, opera and music and her home was filled with the sound of classical music and the aroma of her amazing freshly cooked brown bread. She was a keen and talented gardener; her trademark dahlias were the centrepiece when she opened her garden to raise funds for the St. Francis Hospice. She was a regular reader at the Pro-Cathedral, her local Church in Bayside, and was a guest reader at St. Nicholas’ Church when visiting Essex, UK. Her well-earned reputation resulted in her being asked to step in for President Mary Robinson to read at the Eucharistic Congress in Croke Park which was broadcast to millions across the world. Margaret’s spirit, warmth and kindness were evident to all who knew her. Her resilience and sense of fun shone through even in the most difficult times, something that was frequently remarked upon by the compassionate teams at the Beacon Hospital and St Francis Hospice, to whom the family extends their heartfelt thanks.

The Ó Dálaigh family would also like to express their profound gratitude to all who have offered love, friendship and support throughout Margaret's illness and in these recent days. Your kindness has brought great comfort.

Margaret was loved deeply and widely, and her absence will be felt by many. Her memory will be held dearly in the hearts of all who knew her. Funeral details can be found at www.rip.ie.
