BHREATHNACH - Niamh (Blackrock, Co. Dublin and former Minister for Education) -
February 6, 2023.
As we approach Niamh’s first anniversary, her husband Tom Ferris and children Cliodhna and Macdara together with her sisters Sighle, Fionnuala and Eadaoin would like to extend heartfelt thanks to our families, friends, neighbours and colleagues for their kindness and support; to all those who called, sent messages and flowers, wrote letters and cards, shared kind words and stories online, donated to the Good Grub initiative, said prayers and lit candles – they were a great comfort to us; to those who travelled from near and far to be at the removal and the funeral in such large numbers – it was a huge help to have all of you around us and to those who continue to provide support to us we are very grateful.
The family wish to express their appreciation to those who attended Niamh’s funeral; President Michael D Higgins, Aide de camp Commandant Claire Mortimer representing An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, Members of the Government, Public Representatives both past and present, former Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council colleagues, fellow educators, and to the members of the Labour Party who formed a Guard of Honour.
We wish to thank the Clergy, Bishop Eamonn Walsh, Monsignor Dan O’Connor, Fr. Peter O’Connor and Fr. Eddie Conway for the beautiful Mass in St. John the Baptist Church, Blackrock, and to the wonderful musicians – Michelle Donnelly, Morgan Crowley and Peter Browne.
Thank you to Alan Harmon of Bourke’s Funeral Directors for his invaluable help and professionalism throughout all the arrangements.
We very much appreciate and wish to thank all medical and healthcare staff who cared for Niamh in her final years.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we hope that this acknowledgement will be accepted as a token of our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation of the love and warmth shown to a truly remarkable woman. Mass will be offered for your intentions.
Niamh is hugely missed and will always be in our thoughts.
