SWEENEY, Noel (Tara House, Burntwood, founder of Chasetown Civil Engineering and a Knight of the Pontifical Order of St. Gregory the Great) - Son of the late Joe and Josephine Sweeney, Corrigeen, Strokestown, Noel is sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Carmel (née Smyth)), (Lough Gowna, Cavan), his daughters Charmaine, Aisling, Blaithin (Stevenson, Killina) and Sinead, sons-in-law and much loved grandchildren, by his brothers Joe (Dromahair), Des (Galway), sisters Mary (Beirne, Strokestown), Patricia (Fannon, Macclesfield) and Martha (Tulsk), nieces and nephews and wide circle of friends. Noel was predeceased by his only son Oisin on April 1, 2008, and his sister Carmel (Connor, Kilrooskey) and his brother Michael Francis (Roscommon). A private interment will take place in England. A Memorial Service celebrating Noel's life will take place in both England and Ireland at a later date.Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of the death of a true gentleman and marvellous supporter of so many causes, particularly the help he gave to Cardinal Griffin College. Rest in peace, Noel. Brian Leechmere.
